Tattoo Shops in Arizona

Tattoo shops in Arizona

Arizona's tattoo scene is concentrated in the Phoenix metro area and in Tucson. Our directory lists the largest numbers in Tucson and Phoenix, followed by Mesa, Glendale, Chandler and Scottsdale. Further south-west, Yuma has its own set of shops.

Sun and healing

Strong sun is a fact of life in Arizona, and it matters for tattoos. A healing tattoo should be kept out of direct sun, and healed tattoos fade faster without sun protection. Ask your artist about aftercare for hot, dry weather and read our aftercare basics for general guidance.

Finding the right artist

The Phoenix area is spread across many suburbs, so compare shops by city page to find one close to home or work. Use the filters to separate established shops from independent artists, and look at portfolios for the style you want. Our checklist for choosing a shop covers licensing, hygiene and consultations.

If you are planning a larger piece, you may need several sessions; ask how the artist schedules them and what the deposit policy is. For help with budgeting, see our tattoo cost guide.
